Storm update: How much snow did your part of Massachusetts get? (2025)

A Saturday-morning storm blanketed parts of Massachusetts with snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

The highest reported snowfall count was in Worcester County, which received an average snowfall of 5 inches, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Emily McMinn. Northern Worcester County saw as much as 6-7 inches of snow, she added.

The northern Massachusetts border stretching into the Berkshires received 3 to 5 inches of snow from the early snowfall. Meanwhile, a half inch to an inch was reported north of Boston.

Western Massachusetts averaged 4 to 5 inches of snow, McMinn told MassLive Saturday morning.

Snow made roads slick Saturday morning, with Massachusetts State Police reporting no major injuries or fatalities as of 8 a.m., but said in an email that “several disabled vehicles have required road closures for the safety of motorists and first responders.”

The following state roads had partial closures as of 8 a.m.:

  • Route 2 east in Gardner
  • Route 2 west in Westminster
  • Route 146 south in Millbury
  • MassPike (Interstate 90) in Westborough

While part of Massachusetts saw snow, the Cape and Islands experienced only rain, which is expected to stop before 4 p.m. Temperatures there will remain in the low 40s with drizzle and a 60% chance of rain anticipated overnight.

“We’ve not seen any reports from the Cape and Islands, but our offices are down in Norton, and we really didn’t see any snow here,” McMinn said. “So if we didn’t really see any snow, then it’ll be all rain down there.”

The highest reported snow accumulation statewide is 7.5 inches in Princeton. Closer to Boston, however, little to no snow is expected, as temperatures climb to a high near 37 degrees Saturday, with rain likely after 11 a.m.

“There’s not gonna be a whole lot on the ground,” McMinn said.

Worcester, with a high near 35 degrees, may also see rain throughout the day after 11 a.m. Snow accumulation could be around an inch, with a 50% chance of precipitation in the evening.

Springfield and Greenfield share a similar forecast: a high near 37 degrees with fog and a chance of nighttime rain, and little to no snow accumulation expected.

The Berkshires can expect snow showers to taper off by 2 p.m. Saturday as temperatures reach 38 degrees. Total snow amounts could be anywhere from 1 to 2 inches. However, a mix of rain and snow is possible overnight as temperatures fall to 33 degrees.
